Clever Celia Smith! Spotted at Art in Action last week.

Just shows you don't need title or author on the cover to get people's attention. Filthy English by Peter Silverton

Thwarted by computer skills

This book advert for Kate Morton's The Distant Hours is mindblowing amazing, but I lack the Blogger skills to add it to my blog, so I am not less amazing. Watch video here!

The 18 Best Batman Panels Ever

This list of favourite Batman panels kept me chuckling and happy as a baby today (the pic above not included - not a panel, dummy)

Pugs Not Drugs

I am the proud owner of a new book bag! Purchased here

Winter hankerings

I cannot tell why I wish for this warm woolly blanket so much though it is the height of summer. Perhaps it's the rainbow of little bobbles? The crocheted edging? The tiny bird sitting nearby? Or perhaps it's cos I'm woefully poorly today and want to curl up in comfy place.

JACKET OF THE DAY

Well of course the Penguin Great Ideas series have some of the most inspired covers of all time, but I think this one, for Walter Benjamin's The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Production, is just so very pleasing. See more of their wonderousnesses here

missed connections made my day

Discovered a wonderous thing in the shape of the Missed Connections blog and the talent/genius idea of Sophie Blackall. After checking my bank balance a couple of times I bought a print of the Bear couple. Can't wait till it arrives.

JACKET OF THE DAY

I can't format this properly so it will let me show
all six gorgeous Vintage Classic Prousts, so this volume will have to do. Stunningly photographed flowers might persuade some to buy the full set, and perhaps even read past volume one

Tomato tights are what is needed. Yes, I know its summertime.

Made a Thing

Paper pompoms win over woolly pompoms. I learnt to make these here and I can't stop. Made a pink one for the office too.

Pretty Thing

Yellow is awesome

Want one

This clever person on Etsy made these and I really do want them.

Made a mobile

I saw and coveted the mobiles here, so made my own out of a mixture of plain and patterned writing paper (i don't write many letters anyway).

Purchase to dream

I promised myself I wouldn't buy anymore clothes or shoes. But I am very, very weak

JACKET OF THE DAY

The image wraps around to the back cover and its printed on parchment-like stock. Must have. Buy book, read book, stick cover on wall.

Fat Wee Birds and Guitars!

Went on an impromptu trip to see this after work (god bless the Barbican for late opening) The installation is a serendipitously lovely idea by CĂ©leste Boursier-Mougenot. Check out an audio slide-show of the zebra finches doing their best Hendrix here

JACKET OF THE DAY (plus)

Its the first posting, so here's another feast for the eyes: a brilliantly stylish take on a much-loved classic

JACKET OF THE DAY

The first in a (hopefully) regular posting which aims to beautify our bookselves. An alternative to the supermarket book glitz parade
Barbie never looked better. I don't remember Tippi Hendren looking that happy when she got on the wrong side of The Birds
